Quieter Kid Friendly Places

Many things can trigger migraines. For example, some things that trigger mine are as follows: hormones, blinking or bright lights, strong smells, lack of sleep, outdoor and food allergies and stress.  Just to name a few!   So, when my medication has worked but I’m still not feeling 100% there are some awesome places to take my 3 year old to play or just be quiet.

This past week I took my daughter to Boogie Babies in Rochester Hills, MI.  It’s EXTREMELY clean, which I can’t say about a lot of other places with indoor playgrounds!   They are strict about their no shoes policies, as my daughter tested it buy running in with her shoes on and me following behind her trying to catch her.  We were reprimanded but I understand.  The actually use Ultra Violet Light to clean the place along with all natural products.   No strong odors!!   There is a dance room, where the music never sounded too loud, so they must have it soundproofed.  They have costumes, computers, jungle gym, a kitchenette, books puzzles and a cafe.  It was a smaller place so it was way easier to keep track of your child! It was also quiet which seemed odd, b/c their were quite a few kids playing!  I don’t know how they do it!  You can just sit back and watch your little one have fun!

Another great place is Detroit Kid City.  It’s fairly quiet, the only strong smell is that of strong coffee.   That doesn’t usually trigger migraines for me.  It’s like a mini city inside! There is a little Hitsville USA, a Jet’s Pizza,  school, fire department and a little art area. It’s small so you can keep an eye on your child with ease.   Not to mention you never know when Jennifer Garner may show up with her kiddies!  If you buy a kids T-shirt and have them wear it whenever they come, the cost is 1/2 price to get in!!  Well worth the investment, especially in the winter!  The have a location in Southfield and in Clinton Township now!

Another great idea public libraries!!!!!  They are required to be quiet…even in the children’s section! They have storytimes and crafts, computers, games and of course books!!!!!!   Some local libraries that have great things for young children are the Troy Public Library, Blair Memorial Public Library, (Clawson), Baldwin Public Library (Birmingham) and the Clinton Macomb Library have awesome programs!!!!
